Once again we have been really blessed to experience Ramadan this year. As all the muslims around the world prepare the festivity of Ramadan, our school has also prepared some meaningful annual event for all students, teachers, staffs, and parents. This year Pesantren Ramadhan was held on May 20-21,2019. Students has been challenged to experience full Ramadhan experience in 2-day and  1-night full of activities. Prior to the events, all students (primary, secondary, and DC) had collected Rp 41,826,000 charity money.

On the first day of Pesantren Ramadhan, students alongside with Ittihada, ran a Charity Preloved Bazaar at MHIS parking lot. Many preloved goods, such as clothes, hijab, shoes, water bottles, lunchboxes, etc were being sold in cheap prices, ranging from Rp 5,000 to Rp 20,000.  Since early in the morning, they had prepared the event by stacking all the goods and arranged them according to their prices. At 8:30 sharp, the line was opened and all people from surroundings MHIS who were already wait in line since 8.00 flooded the parking lot. However before they can buy the products they must exchanged their money with coupons, which will serve as their medium of purchasing their desired preloved goods. This three-hour event has run smoothly as hundreds of goods has been sold and collected Rp 11,075,000. All the profits from Charity Preloved Bazaar were given to widows, dhuafa, and yatim.
Right after the Charity Bazaar has ended, eleven secondary students gathered at Musholla Al-Majid for Sima’an Juz 29 recitation. Several students went to Kebayoran Residence Junction to distribute takjil to motorbike riders while some of them were distributing the takjil in front of MHIS. For Masjid Lio’s team, several students from both secondary regular and DC went to Masjid Lio to give some hampers as a thankful gestures as Masjid Lio has been frequently used by MHIS for male students for Friday Prayer. Meanwhile, some of the students were also responsible in preparing iftar foods and snacks at school. All these three activities were the final activities before the students will have Iftar.
At 5:48 sharp, the azan was heard and everyone was ready to break their fast with water and light snacks. All students, teachers, and staffs continued to Pray Maghrib. After praying, students had their Iftar (full meal) and continued their Taraweeh prayer. They ended the first day which is full of activities by night snacking and sleeping  early for there were still many meaningful activities waiting on the following day.
Day two started very early. Students woke up at 1:30 in the morning and started their I’tikaf  at 2 AM sharp at Masjid As-Shaff Bintaro. During I’tikaf, students prayed Tahajjud and read Quran. Then they ate suhoor and prayed Subuh at Masjid As-Shaff. Following the I’tikaf activity, they came back to school to clean up and rest.
Sembako Distribution became the next activity on the second day. Graduation, 18 May 2019

Graduation, 18 May 2019

On May 18, Mutiara Harapan Islamic School held its graduation ceremony for 77 students started from preschool to secondary at Titan Center, Bintaro. In this ceremony, we performed our students’ abilities in reciting Quran, singing, dancing and also playing some musical instruments.
This year’s graduation theme was, ‘Lead Your Path and Reach For the Stars’. This theme aimed to encourage our students to dream big and lead their own future, because big dreams will light their inner fire and drive them to persevere to reach their dreams.
In this precious moment, Mr. Rollando Madjid and Mr. Allan Schneitz as our operational and academic vice director of MHIS congratulated the students and told them that the graduation was the culmination of a long and challenging but ultimately rewarding journey.
Especially in our secondary students both Grade-9 and Grade-12, they have studied in a unique globalized ecosystem where talent and creativity is nurtured and they have become empowered with the skills and attributes they need to be the next generation of global leaders who can make the impossible possible.
Last but not least, cherish your memories as you continue  moving forward to new adventures, new dreams, new challenges and new achievements. Our hope is that you will celebrate each moment as one to cherish or one to learn a life lesson.
With great admiration and much love

Scout and Leadership Camp, 28-29 March 2019

One of the biggest events held for Junior and Senior High this school year is our annual Scout and Leadership Camp.  This year, the camp was held in 28-29 March 2019 at Pondok Zidane, Sawangan, Depok. This two days event was created with the purpose of building students’ teamworks and leadership skills. Aside from that, this event became the first official step to mark the MHSU (Mutiara Harapan Students Union) regeneration which the voting was held last month.
On Wednesday, 28 March 2019, all students gathered at school for preparation and duah before went to Jurang Mangu Station. Students was divided into 11 groups and each group was accompanied by one teacher. Each group used school bus to go to Jurang Mangu Station before continuing the journey by commuter line (KRL). During the train journey, students can experience the rush and joy of using public transportation. The train journey took about two hours started from Jurang Mangu and ended in Citayam Station. Arriving in Citayam Station, students and teachers continued the journey by angkot and fully arrived in Pondok Zidane at 12.30.
The first activity after arriving in Pondok Zidane was Dzuhur Pray and lunch. In the middle of lunch,  the rain suddenly pouring so hard making students and teachers unable to directly go back to their respective rooms. The next activity which previously scheduled to be held in the main hall,  had to be moved in female students’ room due to heavy rain. The activity which led by Miss Dea was about building students’ potential in leadership by noticing their positive sides. It was a very eye-opening activity for students as they can see themselves in more positive lights. During this activity, all MHSU members were divided into several departments which they would be responsible with. The afternoon activities, then, continued by Ashr Pray and some games such as Dressing, Snow Transfering, and Bantank Games. For the games, group 11 able to take 3 wins, while group 2 took 2 wins.
During the second half of the first day, students had many activities varied from Maghrib and Isya Pray, Reciting Quran, Bonfire, and Inauguration, and ended with sleep. For the second day, students started the activities very early by doing Muhasabah at 2 in the morning, continued by Tahajjud, Tadarus, and Subuh Pray. To refresh all the energy, especially after a long morning, students gathered in the main hall to exercise by doing Senam Maumere. Just like in the first day, the second day was also full of games for building students’ teamworks. Each group had to cross several obstacles and making a scout stretcher. For this game, the winner for girl was group 9 while group 2, once again, won the game for boy. All the activities in the final day were closed by playing flying fox, horse riding, and swimming.
The journey back to Tangerang had been an unforgettable moment. While the first train from Citayam to Tanah Abang Station faced zero problem, the unfortunate circumstances happened during the Tanah Abang transit. On that day, the route from Tanah Abang to Palmerah experienced technical faulty which resulted to train delays and overcrowding in the station. After discussing the issue, teachers believed that it would be difficult and dangerous for students to continue the journey by train. With many considerations, teacher decided that each group accompanied by one teacher hailed online car rides to get back to the meeting point (Bintaro Exchange Mall).
Overall, it was a very fun, inspiring, and unexpected event. Students can experience true life skills in which they are faced with real life problems they might never encountered before. Great Job, Students!

Math Fair (Pi Day), 14 March 2019

On the 14th of March 2019, Secondary students celebrated  Pi Day. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. ... Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. The students participated in different competitions like Pi Value memorisation contest, Math Quiz Bee and Pie Decoration contest.
The students also prepared different activities and games on each of their designated booths. While some students memorised the Pi value in a more  traditional way, others memorised it through a song, which is really refreshing to see. The Grade 9 students won the Pi value memorisation contest when they were able to recite up to 117 value of Pi. Great work Grade 9 students!
Math Quiz Bees were held for both Junior and Senior High students. Most of the questions and trivias  were related to the value of Pi. It's nice to see that the learners are very knowledgeable in using the Pi value is solving different Math problems. Malik from Grade 8 was the overall champion for the Junior High Division while Naufal of Grade 9 triumphed  as the champion for the Senior High Division.
The students were able to showcase their creativity and talent in the Pie Decoration Contest. Each group were really focused and determined to show their skills and resourcefulness in decorating their pie. Parents and teachers acted as judges to determine the best decorated pie. Again, the Grade 9 students proved that they were the team to beat when they bagged another win on this competition.
Overall, it was a fun and entertaining Math Fair celebration where both students, parents and  guests enjoyed the games, contests and eating lots of pies!

MHSU Leader and Vice Leader

Our MHSU annual elections have now come to an end. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself forward in any election, so congratulations to all participants and candidates. When running in an election, support from those around you is a key to succeed and friendships are tested. In addition, building a team that will support you is also essential and you need to ensure that they share the same values with you so that they can truly be able to represent your goals. Each year our election is for the MHSU team, from its Leader and Vice Leader. The team aims to represent students on an internal and external level, ensure that their voices are heard by the school and deliver various  relevant campaigns. Moreover, every new team faces exciting challenges and bring a new outlook for their Union life.
